Background

I studied Cognitive Sciences at Rice University, where coursework in software engineering, programming languages, and human-computer interaction shaped how I think about building software that people actually use.

Before moving into software full-time, I taught 8th-grade math to low-income and at-risk students in Houston, Texas. That experience sharpened my ability to explain complex concepts clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and lead with patience—skills I use every day when mentoring developers and working with cross-functional teams.

Working Style

  • Async-first: Proactive communication, thorough PRs, comprehensive documentation
  • Quality-focused: Code reviews, automated testing, maintainable architecture
  • Mentor & leader: Experience building development processes, mentoring junior developers, and establishing team best practices
  • Self-directed: Multiple concurrent projects managed independently with minimal oversight
  • Documentation-driven: Clear technical writing, thorough README files, detailed PR descriptions

Availability

I'm open to part-time (15–30 hours per week), fractional, or retainer-based remote engagements. I'm experienced working with global teams across US and Asia timezones.

Languages: English (native), Mandarin Chinese (professional working proficiency)
